La Federación Internacional de Asociaciones de Bibliotecarios y Bibliotecas (IFLA) es el principal organismo internacional que representa los intereses de los usuarios, de los servicios bibliotecarios y de documentación. Es el portavoz a nivel mundial de los profesionales de las bibliotecas y la documentación.
Fundada en Edimburgo, Escocia, en 1927 en un congreso internacional, celebramos nuestro 90º aniversario en 2017. En la actualidad, contamos con 1,500 miembros de 150 países de todo el mundo. En 1971 la IFLA se formalizó como asociación en los Países Bajos. La Biblioteca Real (La Biblioteca Nacional de los Países Bajos), en La Haya, nos proporciona desinteresadamente el espacio donde se ubica nuestra sede.

Founded in 1927 in Edinburgh, Scotland at an international conference, we celebrated our 90th birthday in 2017. We now have more than 1,500 Members in over 150 countries around the world. IFLA was registered in the Netherlands in 1971 and the The Royal Library, the national library of the Netherlands, located in The Hague, generously provides the facilities for our headquarters.
