Description:
The concept of Digital Library is complex. It has evolved from electronic, virtual, without walls, etc., libraries up to its current concept. The student must study this historic evolution and the differences and similarities between the various concepts. An analysis of traditional and digital library has to be done based on the questions that arise currently to those who are in charge of libraries, the discipline professionals, teachers and students of librarianship, etc. All of them must be carefully analyzed in its main components to discover the real features of digital libraries, and to separate myths from realities and thus, to understand as close as possible the origin, evolution, state of the art and trends in the digital librar; from there,, how to conceive, design and build a digital library, dissecting each and every part and their interrelationships. There are many definitions and approaches from which a digital library can be studied in order to best understand their nature; this is the fundamental object of study that will be used along the entire course. Throughout the course the digital library will be analyzed and discussed under each of the approaches proposed for this module.
